The New Year is off to a good start for Rhys, as he begins 2018 settled in his new home, ready for plenty of romps and excursions; the fact that he has only three legs doesn’t slow him down a bit! Rhys came to SCR in December and many volunteers worked tirelessly to ensure that his Christmas wish would come true. And it has.

Rhys is the first rescue we placed through our new partnership with Celestial Star Kennel, breeder of Pembroke Welsh Corgis. Working with owner Celeste Militzer, we now have the opportunity to place dogs that have been returned to her (her contracts require this if owners can’t care for their dogs for any reason). It’s a win-win situation for both of us, as Celeste will know that her dogs are being placed in good homes, with families we have reference-checked and screened. And for SCR there will likely be a few more — maybe younger — dogs coming through our program to place with families on our lengthy waiting list.

We are looking forward to giving more dogs like Rhys good homes in 2018 and to making more families complete with the addition of a rescued Corgi.
